Goodness me.

I have been thoroughly domesticated.

I seriously need to spend more time outside of these four walls called my house.

On the plus side, being confined with my sister practically 24/7 isn't that bad. We practically co-exist in relative harmony.

Went to Kinokuniya yesterday to check out what has been going on in the real world while I was closeted in with books and notes. Starting with Kino is never a good idea, especially if you're the vicarious reader I am. Luckily I already went to Borders the other day.

Immediately, I was spoilt for choice by the multitude of books. If there is a heaven, I think it would be all the Kino and Borders outlets merged into one free browsing section for me to spend all eternity.

Some of the more interesting sights was this origami book which allowed you to make pop-up models of the world's famous buildings like the Colosseum, Big Ben and the Parthenon. Awfully fascinating, and the price was very reasonable, about $20.

The book which made my blood boil was one written by none other than Melissa Anelli, webmistress of the Leaky Cauldron. Now, as all those Harry/Hermione shippers worth their pumpkin pie out there know, she and Emerson Spartz, webmaster of MuggleNet were granted a now infamous exclusive interview with J.K. Rowling. Spartz derided Harry/Hermione shippers as 'delusional', a sentiment sadly echoed by Rowling. Of course, this...travesty in mind, I had to check out what Anelli had to say about the whole thing.

Surprise, surprise, she was evasive about the whole thing, saying Ron/Hermione shippers were delighted to be right. GOODNESS ME. Ron is clearly an idiot whose funtion seems to be nothing but comic relief and somebody else Harry can rely on. In a similar vein, Ginny Weasley exists merely as Harry's soulmate. Ugh.

Ah well. Everybody's entitled to an opinion. Anelli's, however, seems to be worth something. I'm glad Spartz doesn't come out with a book of his own. That would certainly take the cake. That fellow most charmingly created a 'Wall Of Shame' dedicated to angry Harry/Hermione shippers. If you ask me, such a slanted opinion cannot claim to represent the Harry Potter community as Spartz does.

Yes, kind of obvious I am a Ron-basher.

On a more shocking note, do you know that the average manga volume in English published by Viz Media costs S$20? The same volume in Mandarin costs (howls of indignation) S$5. Simply mind-boggling! Discrimination most foul!

Since I am still practically Mandarin-illiterate, looks like I have to either give up my manga habit or get a job to finance it.

Once I can bring myself to leave the house, that is.
