This weekend was damn fun.

Owens camp was so freaking fun! :) Can't believe we stayed up until 4am playing games. The whole class should have been there, we had such a great time.

The fun started on Friday, with the much-anticipated rugby final. The idiot people in charge kept encouraging us to come down and support the players, then told us there's only room for 40 ppl. *rolls eyes* In the end, we took a taxi there. The uncle was so nice, after we got turned down by 5 taxis, he not only knows where CCAB is, but he also insisted we pay only pay $12 taxi fare instead of $12.20. Sadly, JJ didn't manage to retain our title and we lost to CJ. The score is still unknown to me because I really didn't have a clue what was going on on the pitch, being my first ever rugby match.

The most annoying thing was the councillors, that graduated senior currently in JJ as a PC teacher (I think his name is Weijie) and the Bannister camp people. Throughout the whole match, Biyun/Pearlyn/Weijie/some other person kept jumping up and leading a cheer. THAT WAS FREAKING ANNOYING. The worst thing was the damn orientation cheers. Bloody hell, it's a rugby match, people. You don't go 'Ole ole ak ak' at a rubgy match. On one hand, there were the people who have been going for practically every match trying to pay attention to the game. And the stupid leaders jumping up and trying to get everybody to cheer.

Believe it or not, even when someone was trying to make an important kick, there was still cheering. How retarded.

As though all that wasn't bad enough, once or twice, we spectators were even asked to stand up and 'squeeze', i.e. gather into one solid block to cheer, so as to make it sound louder. Then we had to do 'Boom boom pa'. -.- OH COME ON. Thanks to my intensive JJ leader training, I obediently stood up, keeping in mind the rule of always supporting the person in front. (Who in my opinion, doesn't deserve it.) It turned into such a farce later on that I had to sit down and resolve not to participate in such asinine activity.

After the match was over, Mr Leow took over and asked us to sing the school anthem for the team, which was actually a very sensible thing to do. Later on, a group of us asked one of our classmates who is on the team what he thought of the entire fiasco. Luckily, he didn't care about the highly inappropriate cheering, though he was a bit confused why they were doing orientation cheers. At last, he did say he was touched when we sang the school song, which only goes to show that Mr Leow is a master of politics.

The councillors got a bad scolding after the match, a bit misdirected in my opinion because it was Weijie who started the orientation cheers. I don't know, maybe the teachers were just pissed and wanted to shout at somebody. Quite a few cried and I went down to try an comfort them. I was most pissed with Pearlyn then. When I asked Cherie what was wrong (knowing full well why, of course), she was rebuked by Pearlyn not to cry in front of leaders. Of course. That explained why other councillors just gave me watery smiles and told me nothing was wrong, thanks for asking. So fake. Well, if council doesn't need leaders, that's fine with me. I myself have been chased away many times.

Open your eyes. Even loyal leaders didn't support council this time. Whenever you give us commands, we resent you and the only reason we obey them is because JJ must present a united front to the outside. After the exposure of YOG, we cannot afford to slip up. But actually we did. The CJ people, plus some students from other schools who came down to watch the match or support their friends witnessed the extreme disunity (half the people cheering, people not paying attention to the people in front) and the scolding the councillors received. I could see them watching us. And damn it, I felt damn malu for even the half-hearted cheering I was doing earlier.

Anyway, to make things a little more cheerful, we hung around the pitch until 7 something before making our way back to school. We were supposed to have reported for Owens camp at 5.30pm. After a long long bus ride back to Boon Lay Interchange, we had our dinner at 9 to 9.30pm. :)

We eventually got back to school at 10pm and sneaked up to the LN to slack at camwhore. :)Then it was playtime! We ate, played games and talked until 4am. Angela and Abbie were so tired they fell asleep right in the middle of a conversation and the others were still waiting for the joke that Angela was going to tell. :D

The next day was still as fun and we had tug-of-war, banner painting and cheer designing. We came up with a damn good cheer which I won't reveal here. Wait until Sports Meet :)

And we each got a cool wristband! I didn't know there were companies that make these bands for you. And it's a great way to show our colours :)

And on Saturday night, went for an extremely posh dinner at Equinox, billed as the highest restaurant on Singapore :) The dinner was exceedingly long, breadsticks were served at 8pm and ending with coffee served at 11pm. Lots of fancy food with names I can't even pronounce, mostly in French. I didn't even know what I was eating half the time, I'd just be munching and thinking about it.

I am truly a low-class person at heart, since I was totally uneasy in such luxurious surroundings. Going to eat char kuay teow now. :) Incidentally, why do Singaporeans like sweet char kuay teow? Personally, I think it's vile and much prefer the savoury Malaysian version.

I must post an interesting observation here: when ang moh people open a door, they usually hold it open for the people behind to walk in. The people behind walk normally, repeating if there are others behind. In contrast, when Singaporeans open the door and hold it open, the people behind walk faster so they can pass through without having to open the door. This happened to me yesterday at Jurong Entertainment Centre: I held the door open for a lady with a pram and the family behind them with an armload of books immediately sped up, propelling their children forward until I was forced to hold it open longer otherwise the door would slam in their faces, they were so close behind the woman with the pram. And the people behind them did the same thing, rushing through until there was nobody. You gotta love Singapore.
