Happy Chinese New Year, everybody!OG 7! Another shot. Today's Chinese New Year celebrations were quite fun. Turned out that volunteering myself to give Ms Loh the oranges paid off...literally. The school gave all the teachers hong baos to give us students in exchange for the similarly school-sponsored oranges. The cash is merely a token, though. Nothing to shout or brag about. The attendance for my class was kind of pathetic. As we predicted, only some of the leaders showed up, and attendance was less than half. Nevertheless, we all had a ball camwhoring with Ms Eleen Tan. After joining my class for the yee sang, us OGLs dashed off to join our beloved campers for their yee sang. Later, as is normal for all JJ gatherings, we had a mass dance session. The AVAC screwed up again for 'Five Colours', like it did during YOG. I think it's the CD's problem, not the speakers or the players. Anyhow, the gadgets ought to be boosted. :) Boo to Mr Leow. He gave us holiday homework. Not that I really expected not to have any, but, well. It's the principle of it I dislike. The words 'holiday' and 'homework' ought to be banned! No major issue for me. I'm super untraditional, so won't really be celebrating nor observing the customs and traditions. After the celebrations, went to Cathay Cineleisure Orchard with Hema for master-cat bonding. The bus ride there from school was terribly taxing. Imagine being choked to death by a sea of J1s from the various 'elite' junior colleges dotted along the 174 bus route for about half an hour. Glennda went with us but could only stay for lunch. Saw '27 Dresses', which happens to be a damn good movie. Starring Katherine Heigl as the perpetual sweet bridesmaid, this movie was pretty routine in terms of plot for a romcom (romantic comedy), but rocked in principle. The gags and jokes were good, not slapstick or cliched. A must-watch when you have the time and when you don't. We went to HMV both before and after the movie to drool over the new music releases. Looked for the movie soundtrack so we can groove along to that Elton John song a very drunk Jane and Kevin were rocking out to. Were sadly unsuccessful, though we will eventually lay our hands (or our paws) on the songs thanks to the power of online downloading, ya? Came home and got started on the evil holiday homework before I gave up and got stuck in American Idol and the Internet. (Bad, bad May Ching.) Looks like I will be slacking for the rest of this break. Labels: 27 dresses, chinese new year, homework, og 7 |
