A little early for me to update.

But anyway... I'd better do it now, in the early evening before my mum has a fit about me not studying because THIS YEAR IS 'A' LEVEL YEAR. Don't you just want to scream?

The first day of school was... rather uneventful. No big upsets or whatever, it was just as though there never really was a 3 month holiday. Except for the fact that my batch has become the graduating seniors. Now when the teachers address the J2s, it takes a while for me to think, "Oh! I'm J2 now!" Not a good thing. It seems like I'm in denial of A Levels. GOODNESS.

Today, all the OGLs seem to want to do is to compare campers. It's not a good thing, but well, it happens. But interestingly enough, all the conversations seem to run like this:

1st OGL: How are your campers?
2nd OGL: [Smiles] They're very cute, leh! Yours?
1st OGL: Oh! [Smiles] Mine also very cute!

Apparently, the word 'cute', when applied to the new J1s, does not mean 'sweet faced'. It carries a meaning only fellow OGLs can understand which I imagine is 'charming, adorable, sweet, lovable' and many many more adjectives. One of my classmates blew up when she kept getting the same reply from all her OGL friends.

"Why you all keep saying that they're cute?! They're only one year younger than us, how cute can they be?"

Ah, bless.

Mr Leow was right when he said that us OGLs and councillors need some time to assimilate back into normal student life. We're all still very high and filled with camp spirit. Why, today during PC, when we were running the warm-up 3 rounds, someone started shouting "Yi ba undeneh..." and instantly all the OGls and councillors within earshot started cheering. No joke. Complete with hand actions and 'Mai sua!' until we all ran out of breath to do the third round. Everybody else kept staring at us and shaking their heads but I don't care. It was great fun. And later on in Culture Studies, we had nothing to do. Someone suggested we play some games and immediately...

OGL: [Hand gestures]XI NIU NAI! XI NIU NAI!
Other OGLs: [All doing together with hand gestures] MEI YOU NAI! X2 HEN TUO NAI! X2 HE NIU NAI! X2...

And the best part was the looks on the faces of the non-leaders. We OGLs laughed until we were bloody blue in the face.

I saw practically all of my campers today, and all were telling me about the big holes in their timetables today. That really brought back memories of my PAE period so very long ago. Poor things. They don't get to enjoy as long a free time as my batch did, and their own juniors will have it worse.

Then again, the government thinks it's practical because they waste much less time slacking around. Out of secondary school straight into junior college, chop chop. But I, having experienced a little of the Western style of holistic education, feel that they should have some time to play around. Like this period, they can go and crash others' lectures and even cross streams, with arts students sneaking into science lectures and et cetera. It's like a no-strings-attached sampler of the many different subjects offered in JC before they decide whether it's really what they want to do for their A Levels. Plus, it's great bonding time for the classes as they sit around stoning as they wait for their next lecture. :)

My birthday is coming very very soon! :)
